Animated Drawings was the focus of my postdoc at Meta AI's FAIR lab in 2020 and 2021. I came up with the idea in the form it was released, built the first version on my laptop, and worked it into a public research demo that more than 3 million people used in its first nine months.
Along the way I collected and released the Amateur Drawings Dataset, a first-of-its-kind set of more than 178,000 drawings contributed by people all over the world.
I also wrote the open-source Animated Drawings code. It is the #2,503 most-starred GitHub repository of all time.
In late 2025 I left Meta. Shortly after, I started work on DoodleMate.
